Applying for a study permit while also having (or having had) an Express Entry profile raises the question of dual intent — and how much of that to disclose in your Statement of Purpose (SOP).
Guidance from the group:- Don't explicitly mention an active PR/Express Entry application in your study permit SOP. Doing so risks near-guaranteed rejection, since a visa officer needs to be convinced you intend to leave Canada after your studies, and an active PR application undermines that narrative.
- If you previously created an EE profile, it's safer to frame it as a plan you set aside. State in the SOP that you made an Express Entry profile, decided not to pursue it further, and are now focused on studying with the intent to return to your home country afterward.
The key is not hiding facts that come up elsewhere in your application, but framing your Express Entry history in a way that supports — rather than contradicts — your stated intent to return home after your studies.
