If you received a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Ontario's PNP (OINP) but didn't accept or take any action on it, don't be surprised if you're passed over in a later draw even while meeting all the criteria.
What group members advised:- Not declining (or acting on) a previous NOI can itself be the reason you're skipped in later draws. Inaction on an earlier NOI isn't neutral — OINP appears to treat it as a signal, and it may prevent you from being invited again under the same profile.
- Read the NOI communication carefully — it typically states the consequences of not acting on it, and members noted that not following through can specifically hurt your chances of a future invite.
- If you still want to be considered, contact OINP directly to ask about your status, or consider creating a new Express Entry profile so you're evaluated fresh rather than carrying forward whatever flag your inaction may have created.
- Don't assume you're permanently locked out — one member shared they eventually did receive an OINP NOI again, but only about 6 years after their first invitation, illustrating this can be a very long wait if it happens at all.
The core lesson: always read your NOI communications closely and act (accept or formally decline) within the window given, rather than letting it lapse silently.
