A PGWP holder working in Canada qualified for CEC but, during the pause in CEC draws, went the Enhanced PNP route (EEBC), received the nomination and an ITA — then hit a documentation puzzle: the proof-of-funds exemption clearly covers CEC and valid-job-offer applicants, but where does an EE-PNP nominee stand? Members' answers:
- If your PNP nomination was assessed on your CEC eligibility, the CEC exemption follows you. The nomination was granted because the applicant qualified under CEC, so the proof-of-funds exemption applies the same way.
- Don't over-explain — document. One member's advice: 'you don't need to explain anything to anyone, just attach supporting documents' (work permits, employment letters, pay evidence showing current authorized work in Canada).
- If you want belt-and-braces, quote IRCC's own text. Another suggested copying the exact exemption wording from the IRCC website into a short letter of explanation, stating you are exempt as a CEC-eligible candidate — using their own words back to them.
Historical note: the CEC draw pause referenced here was a 2021-era event; the general documents-over-explanations principle is what carries forward.
