Total Duration
~6 months from OINP application to PR card in hand (Sep 2022 → Mar 2023)

Documents Needed

  • OINP nomination

Applied 27 Sep 2022, approved 11 Oct — accepted in the EE profile the same day for the 600 points.

  • Biometrics

Number updated ~10 days after AOR; completed in late January.

  • Medical

Passed about two months after AOR.

  • PR Portal / login credentials emails

Arrive near the end; respond the same day to keep the file moving.

Step-by-Step

An unusually fast inland OINP → Express Entry case from late 2022/early 2023 (trades NOC 7231); use as a best-case reference, not a promise.

  1. The OINP leg was 2 weeks. Application 27 Sep 2022 → decision-in-progress 5 Oct → nomination 11 Oct, accepted the same day in the Express Entry profile for the 600 points; ITA came the next day.

  2. The EE leg ran ~3 months. File submitted with same-day AOR (19 Nov), 'no documents needed' in December, medical passed 20 Jan, biometrics 27 Jan, PR-portal email 17 Feb (answered same day), credentials 21 Feb (submitted same day), COPR 24 Feb.

  3. PR card arrived ~1 month after COPR (mailed 23 Mar, received 27 Mar).

  4. Linking the PR-card application to GCKey is optional — it's only for tracking, not a requirement. The link becomes available only after your declaration and address are approved.

  5. If linking throws 'no application found', keep trying field combinations. Members confirmed it's a known website quirk: retry with different formats of place of birth (with/without commas) and other field variants until it links.

  6. Same-day responses matter. Every stage where the applicant replied same-day (nomination acceptance, PR portal, credentials) kept the file from sitting in a queue.

Dos, Don'ts & Tips

  • Do: Accept a nomination in your EE profile immediately — this applicant's ITA arrived the next day.
  • Tip: GCKey PR-card linking fails often; retry with different place-of-birth formats (commas, spacing) — it's a site quirk, not your file.
  • Do: Answer PR-portal and credentials emails the same day you get them.
