Got an OINP notification of interest in your IRCC account? Next stop is Ontario's own portal

Documents Needed

  • OINP notification of interest letter

Arrives in your IRCC/Express Entry account; it explains the steps and references needed to proceed.

  • Supporting documents + provincial fee

Submitted through the OINP e-filing portal, not through IRCC.

Step-by-Step

An Express Entry candidate received an OINP notification of interest (Federal Skilled Worker stream) in their IRCC portal and didn't know where to continue. The thread's answer:

  1. The NOI arrives federally, but the application is provincial. The invitation shows up in your IRCC/Express Entry account, but you respond by creating a profile on Ontario's own OINP e-filing portal — not by doing anything further inside IRCC at this stage.

  2. Submit documents and the provincial fee there. Once the OINP profile is created, you upload the required documents and pay Ontario's processing fee to actually apply for the nomination.

  3. Read the letter — it carries the access details. The applicant hit a portal screen asking for a PIN; members pointed out the notification letter itself explains the steps (and where the invitation was delivered matters — email vs. OINP profile vs. IRCC account). Locate the full letter in your account and follow its instructions for accessing/linking the invitation.

  4. Only after nomination do you return to the federal side (for an EE-linked stream, the nomination is then reflected against your Express Entry profile).

General pattern worth remembering for any enhanced PNP: federal account for the interest notification, provincial portal for the application, then back to the federal application once nominated.

Dos, Don'ts & Tips

  • Do: Find and read the full notification letter — it contains the steps, references and access details (e.g., PIN) for Ontario's portal.
  • Don't: Don't wait inside your IRCC account for next steps after a provincial NOI; the application happens on the province's own portal with its own fee.
