If your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score (e.g. around 438, with strong IELTS) isn't enough for a direct Express Entry draw and you don't have a valid job offer for extra points, a couple of strategies came up in the group:
- Pursue additional education (e.g. an MBA) to add education-related CRS points. One member did this after being in a similar CRS range.
- Factor in the time cost: a 2-year program adds meaningful CRS points but also adds real time — roughly 6 months after finishing just to get the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA, e.g. WES) processed for the new credential.
- Consider French language learning alongside other strategies, since additional language points (especially French) can meaningfully raise CRS scores for some profiles.
Bottom line: if a job offer isn't realistic, additional education or a second official language (French) are the two levers members used to push CRS scores higher — but budget for the extra 1.5-2+ years this can add before you see the CRS benefit reflected.
