When a spouse relocates abroad mid-application (for example, for work) while the principal applicant and children remain in the home country, the passport-submission step for the Permanent Resident Portal (PPR) stage can get confusing.
What group members advised:- Contact IRCC directly — either by phone or by email — to explain the situation before assuming how to proceed.
- Use the IRCC Web Form to report the change. If a family member's country of residence changes after the PPR is issued, submit a Web Form informing IRCC of the new location so they can advise on where that person should submit their passport (typically at a visa application centre or Canadian embassy near where they currently reside).
The general principle: don't guess — each applicant's passport should go to the visa office or VAC that serves wherever they currently live, and IRCC needs to be told about any change in circumstances so the file reflects the right addresses.
