How to submit Proof of Funds (POF) bank statements if your bank only provides separate monthly statements

Documents Needed

  • Bank statements (last 6 months)

Combine separate monthly PDF statements into a single document, most recent month on top.

Step-by-Step

If your bank issues separate monthly statements rather than one continuous 6-month statement, IRCC does not require a single combined statement from the bank itself — you can assemble it yourself.

  1. Download or request each of the last 6 months' statements as individual PDFs from your bank.

  2. Combine them into a single PDF file, ordering with the most recent month at the top.

  3. Make sure the most current month is included, even if you have to specifically request/order it from the bank for a fee if it isn't otherwise available yet.

  4. If you're applying from inside Canada but your funds are held in an account abroad (e.g., you can't easily travel back to get statements in person), use online banking or phone/email requests to the home-country bank to obtain the statements rather than needing to travel.

This self-assembled, chronologically ordered PDF is generally accepted as long as it clearly covers the required 6-month period with the bank's official statement pages.

Dos, Don'ts & Tips

  • Do: Combine individual monthly bank statement PDFs into one file, most recent month on top.
  • Tip: If you can't visit the bank in person, request the missing latest-month statement via online banking, phone, or email instead.
