PPR delayed after a background-check note? What you can (and can't) do while waiting

Total Duration
4+ months stalled after medical update, with a webform reply citing background investigations

Step-by-Step

If your PR application stalls after medicals with a webform reply mentioning ongoing background investigations, group members had two pieces of practical advice:

  1. Accept there's little you can actively do to speed it up. A background-investigation note generally means the file is with a different part of the process, and there's no reliable way to expedite it — the honest answer is to keep waiting.

  2. Use a CAIPS (or ATIP) notes request to see where your file actually stands. Requesting your Client Application Information notes gives more visibility into your file's real status than the online tracker or a generic webform reply.

This doesn't shorten the wait, but it at least tells you what stage of review you're genuinely in.

Dos, Don'ts & Tips

  • Tip: Request your CAIPS/ATIP notes for real visibility into your file's status when a webform reply is vague.
  • Don't: Don't expect a background-investigation note to be something you can push along — there's no reliable way to expedite it.
