Some new landed immigrants have reported that the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer at their port of entry didn't take a mailing address for the PR card, instead pointing them to an online address-update link that later doesn't work properly.
What group members advised:- When using the online link to add your address, enter your birthplace exactly as it appears in your GCMS file (your official immigration case record) — mismatches here are a common reason the system fails to locate your application.
- If the link still doesn't work, call the IRCC helpline and select the PR card option. Group members reported getting connected to an agent relatively quickly this way, who can then manually process the address for your PR card.
If your port of entry was different from the one you expected (e.g., landing in Montreal instead of your intended province), this doesn't appear to block your PR card processing — the address just needs to be added through one of the above channels.
