I am struggling with the Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409) for the PR application and wonder if I should do it or not. I and my spouse married officially and I have married certificate from my country (Iraq) for more than 20 years now. Is that considered a Common-Law Union that I should declare it? Any thoughts/advice? Thanks

Do legally married couples need the Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409)?
for common law partner you need to produce documents in canada showing you and your partner are living together for more than one year
When you have a mariage certificate issued by your government department, that is a legal union.
Common law union is when you're not married but living together as a couple
