My friend had shown her EU blue card and employment letter, and bank balance with more than $10K CAD. I had also issued an invitation letter with the friend staying at my place for the trip. Does anyone have any inputs on what could have been done better? Also a US tourist visa was rejected for same reason just one day before, do they have any info sharing that might have caused this?

A basic search would have showed that US and Canada have an agreement where each applicants for any type of visas are checked into each others data base.
He probably is not applying from his country of citizenship and residence, this too is a factor, as they said in the final paragraph.
