My son is 6 years old and he has a study visa valid till 23 April, 2024 as his passport is expiring on 24th April, 2024. ( He never been to Canada ) 2. He got his new passport in February, 2024 Questions - 1. Can he fly on 12th April, 2024 if I don’t apply his study visa extension? Is it ok if I apply for the extension once he arrive in Canada? 2. Who shall apply for the extension of his study visa ? Me ( on open work permit but currently don’t have any job) or my spouse ( He having a open work permit and he is in India and never been to Canada ). What would be the better option ? We encountered the same issue 2 years ago. We were able to travel without a visa on the new passport. But Air India had to reach out to Canada authorities before issuing the boarding pass. It took about an hour to get the authorization considering the kid was travelling with parents and parents have a valid visa for travel. But honestly, it was a little worrisome. Not sure if Canada authorities would deny it in any case.
