Hi. I have a query on change in family composition. I received PR this year in August 2022. My husband and I were planning to go for landing sometime in March 2023, stay there for a few days and return to India. As it so happens, we are expecting a child, due for arrival in second half of next year. I understand this is change in family composition. Could you please help us understand the process ahead and how we should approach it. Should we do a soft landing and return to India to deliver or should we permanently move to Canada. Greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.

Pregnant after receiving PR but before landing: soft-land and return to India, or move permanently and deliver in Canada?

Adding a child before getting PR is easy. But would recommend that you give birth to your child here, so that they you don’t have to worry about sponsorship. Sponsoring a child later is a complicated process and would take several months to get added.

Try to give birth to the child here in Canada. It will save you a lot of stress. If you’re worried about getting help with the baby, then you can always go back to India for a while after giving birth in Canada.

Get here permanently.Deliver here.Process of sponsorsing your child is long and one of the parent have to be in Canada to sponsor.
