Hi experts and Kubeir Kamal Sir, can u please reply to this - My son is 5.10 years old and he got the study visa for Canada that is valid till 23rd April,2024 as his passport is expiring on 24th April, 2024. My question here is - If I fly to Canada on 12th January,2024. Will I face problems at immigration as his passport’s validity will be less than 6 months old when he reach Canada. Thank you in advance. Thanks, Riti

Child's passport expires within 6 months of travel: renew before flying, carry both

Chances are less that cbsa will question only 6 months but if they do then you can explain that it matches with passport expiry, but as a precaution you can renew your passport (if still in india) and travel with both and then can get the extension once here..

Even before landing in Canada. I think your child doesn't even have a chance to board a plane with a passport with less than 6 months expiry. They will stop you at the airport in your home country.

There will not be any problem as he is on study permit. There might be a problem if he was an adult, on visitor visa with less than 1 mth. But in this case, he is a dependent child with study visa.

I had the same issue, ensure that you carry his new passport. Your son visa will have same expiry as yours. Later you can apply for TRV.
