Hi All, I have a question regarding working in Canada as a PR. I entered Canada and became a PR on May 13, 2023. My original plan was to stay in Canada and look for jobs in Canada. However, due to personal reasons, I had to leave Canada after two weeks. I have been in India since the past few months, but I continued to look for jobs in Canada. I finally received my first job offer. I plan to go back to Canada in January. The only issue is that have not received my PR card yet. Will this restrict me from working for any employer? FYI, I have my PRTD ready, which should allow me to enter Canada. I would appreciate your inputs.

Returning to Canada and starting a job as a new PR before your PR card arrives
I think the travel document or the COPR is valid only for the first time. If you leave Canada and want to go back you need a PR card. Is it that you didn’t apply for the card or you haven’t received it yet?
Vanya Mishra okay. PRTDs could be single or multiple entry. Check which one is yours and proceed accordingly. Alternatively, you can apply for a new PRTD for travelling.
Anmol Singh I have not received the PR card yet. I have linked the PR card application to my GCKey account and there have been no updates to it since June 2023.
Anmol Singh Thanks for sharing the details. I have a single entry PRTD on my passport. However, can I start working in Canada without a PR card?
Vanya Mishra yes you can. Your status is still a permanent resident so no issues.
Vanya Mishra PR card is not needed for jobs or job offers.
Anmol Singh Thanks a lot for the confirmation!
