Buying property in Canada on a work permit: the foreign buyer ban, NRST, and what border officers actually ask
Expect ON and BC, work permit holder can get mortgage and can buy property. In ON and BC work permit holder still can buy property but is subject to pay 25% NRST. The tax has rebate if work permit holder becomes PR within 4 years from buying the property. If u r settling down expect ON and BC than 100% confirm u can buy property without 25% NRST.
1) There's a temporary policy that is extended till 2027 banning foreigners from purchasing Residential properties. This does not affect PRs. For work permits there are certain exemptions.
