CanadaPost-Graduation Work Permit1

Hello everyone, as I was expecting pgwp extension for 2024 but didn’t happen for me and many others here. Now as I would not be able to continue here and don’t wanna waste hard earned money on LMIA . so if I decide to leave this country , under what chances I can get my cpp contribution of last 5years as I’ll be not coming back ? Or in case if I do get cpp contributions and if I decide to apply through express entry from my home country in future year ahead, will my application may get rejected as I withdrew my cpp money from Canada back in 2024? Or it just get reset ?

Leaving Canada after your PGWP ends: what happens to your CPP contributions

Almost all countries have it, CPP deductions are not unique only to Canada, and all canadian residents pay it regardless of their status and if they're working. Some people pay it all life and never benefit from it. If you're going back forever, CPP can in some circumstances be credited towards the home country's pension arrangement. Its better to contact Service Canada. Once credited, it all settled from Canadian side.

Tejraj Shah thanks , yeah this question was in my mind since many days. So I have to come at my 60s to get this but when a immigrants leave a country they let CRA know to close their tax file so I thought in such case we might get cpp as a left immigrants might not come back. This is not fair in some sense for charging cpp from temporary resident or if taken then should be given back as they decide to leave.

Richard Cukali make sense , but if you take away money from here and don’t pay and leave you will be in their list and will be considered as fraud😂. Amazing.

Unfortunately you do not get your cpp contributions back till you reach the age of 60. Since there is no provision to get your CPP refunded.

That is the way Canada uses international power to keep their pension system alive lol. They use you, you go, and very few get it

Many are in the same situation. It’s a lesson for everyone who is thinking of applying to Canada.
