Accept my apologies if I sound naive! Me and my Wife both have already completed our Masters and now my wife wants to do P.hd from Canada on Study permit. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere that getting approval for study permit after 30 is extremely tough, our age is 37 and 32 respectively and our ultimate goal is to settle with Canadian PR so If we choose Study route then: 1) Will I be able to get Open Work permit? 2) Can somebody suggest relatively cheaper universities for P.hd (preferably with acholarship) and explain SDS/Non-SDS category? Need honest response and guidance, please.

PhD study permit in your late 30s: members report approvals — one in 16 days — with a strong SOP
I don’t think age is a problem as long as you have a strong sop. I saw at least 3-4 40-year-olds who got their study and work permits in the last month alone
My husband is 37 and he is starting his Phd in McGill in Jan. He got his study permit within 16 days. I am waiting for my spousal open work permit.
On the same path..my wife want double masters..just got our academic ielts
