What Is "Visa Endorsement" After Getting Your PPR?

Canada • Study Permit • study 0 views

Documents Needed

  • Passport (sent via VFS)

Sent to the IRCC visa office (e.g. Delhi) for visa stamping after you receive your Port of Entry Letter / Passport Request (PPR).

Step-by-Step

After you receive your PPR (the letter requesting your passport for visa stamping), "visa endorsement" refers to the stamping step that follows:

  1. Send your passport through VFS Global to the relevant IRCC visa office (e.g. New Delhi) once you receive your PPR.

  2. The visa office stamps your passport with your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) for travel purposes — this is the "visa endorsement."

  3. You receive your passport back with the visa stamp, but note this is separate from your actual study permit: your physical study permit document is issued at the airport immigration counter when you land in Canada, not before.

  4. Once you have your visa and travel dates confirmed, inform your college/institution that you've received your visa, since they may need this for enrollment or arrival coordination.

Dos, Don'ts & Tips

  • Tip: The visa stamp in your passport (from PPR/VFS) and your actual study permit are two different things — the study permit is issued on arrival in Canada.
  • Do: Notify your college once your visa is stamped and you have confirmed travel plans.
  • Don't: Don't assume the passport stamping step alone is your final study permit.
