If your final semester results are out but the official marksheet/transcript from your college is delayed, it can be tempting to submit an unofficial copy to avoid pushing back your target intake. One group member's direct experience was a caution against this: their study permit application was refused after submitting an unofficial transcript.
What to do instead:
- Wait for the official transcript, even if it means targeting a later intake than originally planned.
- Contact your college's exam/records office directly to get a realistic estimate of when the official marksheet will be issued, rather than guessing — this helps you plan which intake is actually achievable.
- If timing is tight, discuss with your intended DLI whether a slightly later application, once the official transcript is ready, is preferable to risking a refusal with unofficial documents.
A refusal on your record can complicate future applications, so it's generally safer to accept a short delay than to submit incomplete or unofficial academic documents.
