Switching your college or program of study does not, by itself, damage your eventual PR pathway.
- You are generally free to change your designated learning institution (DLI) or program — doing so does not automatically create negative consequences for a future PR application.
- Stay compliant with your study permit conditions when you switch. This means continuing to be actively enrolled and pursuing your studies, and notifying IRCC of the change through your account as required, so your status doesn't lapse during the transition.
As long as you remain compliant with your study permit conditions throughout the change (enrollment, attendance, and reporting the change where required), switching schools or programs should not hurt your PR prospects down the line.
