For candidates with a CRS score that isn't moving and are weighing whether to pursue a Canadian study program to improve their profile:
- Don't wait it out if your score isn't trending down toward a competitive range — waiting for CRS cutoffs to drop wastes time and can cost you points as you age or fall out of certain brackets.
- Pick a program that aligns with your existing work experience and past studies, rather than picking a course just because it's cheap or fast. A closely related program strengthens your profile (and future job prospects) more than an unrelated one — having a Master's degree or being over 30 isn't itself disqualifying as long as the program choice makes sense on paper.
- Consider the job-offer route as an alternative to studying. Landing a genuine Canadian job offer can be a faster path to gaining points and eventual PR than the 1–2 year study-then-work pipeline, if your profile and network make that realistic.
Weigh both paths against your specific timeline and finances rather than assuming one is universally faster — the right call depends on how close a study program's requirements are to your existing background.
