New Express Entry candidates often wonder whether selecting provinces of interest in their profile is enough, or whether they need to separately apply to each province.
What group members advised:- For most provinces, selecting them as a province of interest in your Express Entry profile is sufficient. Except for a small number of provinces, you don't need to register individually — the province reviews profiles and sends a Notification of Interest (NOI) or nomination directly.
- A handful of provinces (three, according to the thread) work differently — for their Express Entry-linked programs, the province still selects candidates from profiles, but for their other, non-EE-linked programs, you need to submit a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) yourself.
The practical takeaway: check whether a province's specific PNP stream is Express Entry-linked or not — that determines whether your EE profile alone is enough, or whether a separate provincial EOI is required.
