An applicant asked about processing times and rejection reasons for Alberta's Express Entry stream (outland). Members who had just been through it reported:
- Nomination in roughly 27–30 days. Two outland applicants received their Alberta nomination certificates 27 and 30 days after submitting the application that followed their NOI. The clock discussed here starts at application submission after receiving the NOI, not at pool entry.
- Regulated professions: Alberta was lenient at the application stage. A member in medical laboratory science (a regulated profession) noted Alberta did not require proof of registration with the Canadian licensing body at nomination stage — unlike Saskatchewan. They handled it with a Letter of Explanation about their licensing plan.
- Expect ADRs about current employment. Additional document requests centred on proving ongoing employment: one member was asked for their latest pay statement, another for six months of pay statements. Keep these ready to avoid delays.
- No rejections surfaced in the thread — the reported experiences were approvals, so treat the timeline as a healthy-case benchmark rather than a guarantee.
