Should you list every certification in your Express Entry profile, even ones without an ECA?

Documents Needed

  • Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)

Only required/counted for CRS points on the credential(s) you choose to have formally assessed, e.g. through WES.

Step-by-Step

If you're filling out the education/certification section of your Express Entry profile and aren't sure whether to include credentials you didn't get an ECA for:

  1. List all your certifications, not just the ECA-assessed one. Applicants in this thread reported including every credential and clearly marking which one was evaluated/certified (e.g. through WES).

  2. Understand that only the ECA-assessed credential(s) count toward CRS education points — including uncertified ones doesn't hurt your profile, it just won't add points for the uncertified entries.

  3. There's no downside reported to listing everything — it gives a fuller picture of your background without risking your application, since CRS scoring simply won't credit unassessed credentials.

Since Express Entry profile fields and requirements can be updated by IRCC, double-check the current profile instructions if anything here seems inconsistent with what you see on the portal.

Dos, Don'ts & Tips

  • Do: Include all your certifications in your EE profile, and clearly indicate which one(s) have a completed ECA.
  • Tip: Only ECA-assessed credentials count toward CRS education points — listing others is harmless but won't add points.
