Forgot to upload your IELTS document after AOR: should you submit it via web form?

Documents Needed

  • IELTS test report

Uploaded under the education documents section even though there isn't a dedicated language-test upload field.

Step-by-Step

If you already entered your IELTS number and score in the application forms but forgot to attach the actual test report as a document, group members had two takes on how serious this is:

  1. One view: it isn't strictly needed because there's no dedicated upload field for it, and if the visa officer needs it, they'll request it directly (via an Additional Document Request, or ADR).

  2. The more cautious and more commonly recommended view: upload it anyway, filed under the education documents section, submitted proactively through the IRCC web form. The reasoning is that if an ADR does come in specifically for this, it adds processing delay — so sending it upfront avoids that back-and-forth.

Bottom line: since there's no downside to uploading a missing document via web form, and a possible delay if you wait for IRCC to ask, the safer move is to submit it as soon as you notice the gap rather than waiting to see if an ADR arrives.

Dos, Don'ts & Tips

  • Do: Upload the missing IELTS document via the IRCC web form under the education documents section as soon as you notice it's missing.
  • Tip: Waiting for an Additional Document Request (ADR) instead of proactively submitting can add processing delay.
