A member with a Canadian master's degree, an Indian master's degree, and a bachelor's degree — all listed in their Express Entry education history — received an ITA, but wasn't sure whether to remove the bachelor's from education history since they hadn't done an ECA for it, or list it elsewhere.
What the answers agreed on:- You don't need to remove the bachelor's from your profile. It doesn't hurt to leave it, but IRCC will only assess and award points for the credential you actually claimed points on (in this case, the Canadian master's).
- ECA is only required for the highest degree you're claiming CRS points for. If you have multiple degrees (e.g. bachelor's, master's, or even a PhD), you only need an ECA for the one you're using for points — the others can simply be listed without an ECA.
- Since a Canadian master's degree doesn't require an ECA at all (Canadian credentials are already recognized), that's sufficient for your education history section. Other foreign degrees, like the bachelor's, can be mentioned under personal history if they fall within the required 10-year window, without needing to be removed or given an ECA.
The practical takeaway: keep your full education history as-is; you're not required to get an ECA for every degree, only the one you're claiming points for. A Canadian master's already satisfies the education requirement, so your foreign bachelor's and other master's can simply sit in your personal/education history without further action.
