CRS 467 with a STEM NOC - reading category draws and OINP tech thresholds (2023 snapshot)

Step-by-Step

Historical note: all cutoffs below are 2023 figures; category-based draw scores move constantly. The durable part is the method, not the numbers.

A candidate at CRS 467 (STEM NOC, also eligible for Ontario's HCP stream, CELPIP maxed at CLB 10) asked about invitation chances.

  1. Know the thresholds for each channel you're eligible for. At the time, members put OINP tech draws around ~475 and federal STEM category draws at ~481-485+, so 467 was short on both - quantify the gap before waiting passively.

  2. Check the official draw-history pages (e.g. OINP's updates page) rather than rumors: one member noted OINP HCP/tech had dipped to lower scores at least once that year, which is verifiable there.

  3. With language maxed, the remaining levers are the usual ones - education points, spouse factors, French, or provincial routes; hoping cutoffs fall (members cited YouTube predictions of falling STEM cutoffs) is not a plan.

Dos, Don'ts & Tips

  • Don't: Don't plan around influencers' predictions that draw cutoffs 'will definitely come down' - use official draw histories.
  • Tip: List every category/stream you qualify for and its latest cutoff; target the smallest points gap.
