Members were consistent: once you've received your AOR, your PR eligibility is based on the work experience you already claimed and submitted in your application — not on whether you continue working for that same employer afterward.
- You generally do not need to proactively inform IRCC if you resign after AOR, as long as you aren't on an employer-restricted stream (e.g., certain PNP nominations tied to a specific employer).
- You're free to resign, change jobs, or take a new role without notifying IRCC — your claimed points and experience were already assessed at the time of application.
- The exception is if IRCC later requests updated information themselves (for example, through an additional document request). If that happens, you must respond accurately and promptly.
- If you applied under a CEC or PNP Express Entry stream without an employer-tied restriction, members were clear that leaving your job after AOR does not need to be reported.
If you're on a PNP stream where the nomination was specifically tied to a job offer or employer, treat this differently — check your nomination conditions, since some province-specific nominations do carry ongoing employment obligations.
